Phnom Penh, March 21, 2024 – In a development for the disabled community in Cambodia, Prime Minister Hun Manet has graciously accepted the role of Honorary President for the Techo Sen National Center for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia. This announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of both institutions earlier today.

Addressing the attendees, Prime Minister Hun manet expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him, stating, "I would like to thank you for this honor and welcome." His acceptance of this prestigious position underscores his commitment to championing the rights and opportunities for individuals with disabilities in the nation.

Furthermore, in a demonstration of tangible support, Prime Minister Hun Manet pledged to establish the Techo Sen Sports Fund for Persons with Disabilities. This fund aims to provide vital financial assistance to the center and promote sporting activities among individuals with disabilities. Encouraging the involvement of philanthropists, he emphasized the importance of proper management and transparency in the fund's operations to foster trust and participation.

"I urge the proper preparation of statutes to ensure effective management and gain support for this fund," Prime Minister Hun Manet stated. He also announced an initial contribution of 200 million riel to kick start the initiative, with a promise to continue this support annually for the next four years.

The establishment of the Techo Sen Sports Fund and Prime Minister Hun Manet's acceptance of the Honorary Presidency mark significant strides towards inclusivity and empowerment for the disabled community in Cambodia.
